Time V Money…

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

Since I have become involved in the world of internet marketing, I have come to realise that time is an extremely important aspect.  In order to succeed you need to commit yourself and dedicate a certain amount of your time.  Unfortunately, time is a limited resource.  Once it has gone you cannot get it back, therefore you need to use it wisely.  Spending your online time appropriately will determine whether or not you succeed in making money through the internet.

Unfortunately I do not have too much time on my hands due to full time employment and family commitments, however I still set time aside in order to fulfil my interest in internet marketing.  As with everything in life, it is easy to become sidetracked.  It is important that as an internet marketer to realise that time is limited and therefore plan ahead.

Below are some effective tips which can help you to spend your internet marketing time more wisely.

Initially you need to learn the basic skills of effective time management.  It is easy to become lazy and adopt poor time management; therefore you need to avoid this.  In order to succeed you need to be efficient.  You need to adopt a solid work ethic and the ability to get things done.  Create a schedule and stick to it, don’t put things off until the next day.  Set your goals and stick to them, this will help you to be as productive as possible, plus it will provide you with the best results.  If you want to find out more about this subject then why not Google “time management”

It is important to develop your strengths.  When you are first starting out you may want to try and do everything yourself.  This may include the website design, marketing, article writing, blogging etc.  This is a great learning experience, however you cannot afford to dedicate your time to all of this and in reality you will become less efficient.  You will become frustrated and essentially your website will suffer.  You should focus on the aspects you enjoy, and the ones that you are good at.  You can outsource everything else, for example article writing or blogging.  If you are great at internet marketing then focus on this and allow someone else to do your writing or web design.

There is a famous saying that time is money however, this is not entirely true when it comes to internet marketing.  It is more beneficial for you to spend money rather than time!  For example, manually collecting client data can be extremely time-consuming.  Therefore it may be worth investing money on a tool which will automatically collect the data for you.  This will save you time and energy.

You should try to focus your attention on just one project at a time.  Unfortunately, I am guilty of starting more than one project at a time.  Starting more than one project at a time can cause you problems.  The volume of work increases causing stress and lack of focus.  In order to avoid this scenario I suggest that you work on only one venture or project as a time.  By doing this you can commit yourself properly, plus you a much more likely to succeed in making money through internet marketing.

Mistakes to Avoid When Using Twitter As an Internet Marketing Tool

Monday, August 30th, 2010

The most common mistake that people make when starting to use Twitter is to misuse it and abuse it.  Unfortunately this is very easy to do and can result in the loss of followers.  Many followers will delete you if you begin to spam them or post tweets which are negative.

By following the tips below, you can avoid some of the common mistakes that internet marketers are making.

  1. Try not to tweet about the product or service that you are selling too often.  An occasional tweet which mentions your blog or website is acceptable, but a tweet with simply states the link to your product or service will be perceived as spamming.  You are simply saying to your followers “Buy me!”
  2. Your tweets should always be positive and polite.  If someone irritates you then you should avoid acting on it.  Do not feed off their negativity.  Stay professional and avoid conflict.
  3. Twitter is a social networking site, therefore the main aim of the website is to build relationships and establish communication with like minded people.  It should not be abused, and you should not send spam style tweets at every opportunity.
  4. Try to limit your tweet, less is more.  You should aim to tweet about your blog just once a day.  One good tweet is better than several poor tweets.
  5. You should avoid sending the same tweet more than once, particularly if you have a link within it.  Many people find this irritating and will stop following you.  Several posts regarding the same subject can become boring for your followers.  They are not interested in reading the same thing over and over.
  6. You should always respond to your follower’s messages.  This assures the sender that you have received their message.  Twitter is a fast paced networking website and messages can move quickly, especially if you have a large number of followers.  Responding to them shows that you have acknowledged their contact.
  7. When using Twitter you should avoid using caps.  This is common online etiquette, as it can be viewed as shouting or aggressive.
  8. Stay active.  You should log into your Twitter account on a daily basis in order to connect with your followers.  Logging in on a less frequent basis could result in the loss of followers.

By sticking to the above guideline, you can ensure that you Twitter internet marketing campaign will bring you and you business complete success.

Another Great Internet Marketing Tool !

Monday, August 30th, 2010

Let’s take a look at Twitter, the social network site and how it can be used by internet marketers.  The main reason why Twitter rose to fame is because of the various celebrities that started to use the service.  It is in fact an excellent way to drive traffic to your website.

There are absolutely millions of people using Twitter for personal and business usage.  The first step to using Twitter for internet marketing purposes is to check the Twitter stream,  this will help you to establish whether or not people are twittering about the products and services that you have to offer.  This is an excellent way to build a foundation with your potential customers and develop communication.  You should run regular searches to find people who are discussing your products and services.  By doing so you can find out what they think regarding your products and services, plus get a better understanding of your customer base.

Many internet marketers do not succeed with Twitter marketing as they take the wrong approach.  People want to be treated as individuals, they do not want to be spammed or spoken to as though they are part of a wider audience.  After all it is a social network, people are there to join conversations, build relationships and expand their networks.  Without building relationships first, you are unlikely to succeed.

Your tweets should be personal sounding, on a conversational level.  They should not sound like spam.  The best thing to do is start off by introducing yourself, be friendly and helpful.  This will allow you to gradually promote your business.  Take your time, and do not rush into promotion overkill.  As this will just make your followers think that you are a spammer.

There is software available which will be able to help you with your Twitter marketing.  Popular software includes TweetDeck.  This software allows you to get the most out of your campaigns.  The software will help you to find out when people are discussing your products, services or even your keywords.

Using Twitter as a form of marketing is not too complicated once you get the hang of it.  Sign up and give it a go, you have nothing to lose plus you can get a lot out of the service.  You will soon realise how valuable Twitter is for your business.  It is an excellent way to generate leads.  But you need to be aware of how your tweets may sound, don’t ruin your chances by spamming your followers.  Avoid mistakes and you will achieve great results through Twitter marketing.
